A Merry Christmas quilt.

Grandma turned 92 in November. She received this in the mail the day before Christmas. I wanted to make her something cozy and warm for the chilly winter in Idaho. More than that I wanted her to feel the love and appreciation I have for her. She has touched my life in so many ways. Some of my favorite memories of are that she slept outside with us in a tent, came to Alaska 1995 to visit me. She is a wonderful artist and has painted gorgeous paintings even in her eighties.
She has a great attitude and is such a love. Hope you enjoy some warm snuggles in your new blanket. Love ya so much Grandma.

This was a stack and slash patternish. (I continue to not be big on patterns.) I used a plush blanket for the back. The batting is a cotton/ poly blend for a little more fullness. This is cozy and gorgeous because you can see all the beautiful workman ship of the quilting that Carla does.

For little Man Ian = We love you....

It is hard to loose loved ones and watch those we love loose those precious and dear to them. It has almost been 1 year since my cousins Jen and Justin lost there little boy at 6 months of age. His heart loved and touched many.

I wrote this to sort through my own emotions a year ago and the picture of the blanket that my sister and I donated to his hospital in SLC Utah.

November 2007 -Sadness perforates my soul and sleep is so far from possible. I have been walking around the house trying to gather material and supplies for donations to the hospital. I have realized that this is all a mad dash to mask the sadness and grief I feel for this family and sweet little Ian. Too, I want to somehow help find a way to deal with Jen and Justin's loss. Being a parent myself has only made this more real.

There is always more we can do to love and reach out, I hope they will feel that little angel Ian watching over them now.... They are amazing parents and have made us all look at our live and want to be more like them.

A few from 2007

This was my sister Andrea's Quilt. I had my quilter Carla put words all around the borders. I did the fallowing words: delight full, lemon head, creative, compassionate, empathetic, tender, brave, happy, womb mate, mother, kind, pretty, pantyhose( crazy nick name from childhood), dependable, daughter, Annie, happy, twin sister. She loved it! I loved giving it to such a special person in my life. I am so lucky and blessed to have a twin sister!

This was one of the first quilts I assembled. Big strips, with a very masculine flair for the love of my life.
