Love Jean quilts

I am currently working on a back for a jean quilt top that I made. Why do I love jean Quilts. Well her name was Zelda Dahle and she was my Grandmother on my dad side. She was quilt making machine. When we would go to her house in Fruitland Idaho, we often slept in the cold Basement. All of the Cousins wanted the Jean quilts, they were warm, heavy and made you feel perfectly safe even when our grandpa was telling us scary goodnight stories.
Most of the fabric on the back is from her stash,my mom had inherited it and gave it to me this last March when I was home. In order to have enough fabric I added the bright orange and blue. It looked so plan that I decided in honor of my appliqueing grandma I would do my very first applique. If I do not look to close I am pleased with the result.
*to applique us a clear plastic bag from the dry cleaners. Cut it just a little bit bigger than you applique piece. Place the plastic down first and then your fabric and cover with a brown paper bag. Apply the iron with the highest heat press for a few seconds. Gently pull up to see if it is attached. Then stitch around your pieces for a gorgeous finish.

The back of the quilt is a colorfull surprise .The quilt is done. I just love it! I have wanted to do this since I was a teenager.
